Biography

Povel Nielsen was a citizen and goldsmith in Vä [old Kristianstad], as well as a councilor in Kristianstad. Povel Nilsen appears in the so-called Silver Bible, the extensive landmark of Swedish goldsmiths from the 16th century onwards. The goldsmith Povel is mentioned on September 26, 1594, and on April 27, 1602 in Västad's heritage book. The citizen Povel Nilsen is mentioned on 19 November 1602, Povel Nilsen arrives in Vä 13 September 1603 to 7 December 1604, and the village bailiff Povel Nilsen in Vä 27 May 1607 to 3 January 1614 [V%C3%A4 stads heritage book 1592-1614].

We can also read about Povel Nilsen's guardianship in Västads heritage book August 17, 1602 [V%C3%A4stads arvebok p.103-109] where goldsmith Povel Nilsen and Hans Claussen are guardians of Blessed Peder Bösseskuter's son Mickel Perssen when there was a change between Mickel and stepmother Karine. A change was held on August 31, 1603 between [Povel Nilsen's sister-in-law] Inger [Pedersdatter's] blessed [husband] Hans Bardskär and her two children Mo [r] ten Hans [son] and Karine Hansdatter [V%C3%A4stad's inheritance book pp. 137-142]. Guardians of the children are Povel Goldsmith and Johann Nibur. The town bailiff Povel Nilsen and Johan Nibur are guardians of Blessed Mickel Fellberedare's children Susanne Mickelsdatter and Hans Mickelsen at a change on December 29, 1609 between the children and their mother Lucie [V%C3%A4 stads heirvok p.208]. Lucie marries [Povel Nilsen's brother-in-law] Rasmus Pedersen Piil.

Among the first known landowners in Kristianstad [City at Helgeå, book published on the occasion of Kristianstad 350th anniversary] are in the block south of the square (Frimurarhotellet), councilor Hans Klaussen, the famous silversmith, had taken care of the left corner site, while his colleague Povel Nilsen, former village bailiff and later councilor, lived in the middle [City at Helgeå, p.204-205]. These two farms were acquired in the 1630s by Christoffer Ulfeldt, who demolished them, and built a stone house here in the 1640s [Staden vid Helgeå, p.220].

Povel Nilsen worked as a goldsmith in Kristianstad 1615-1619 [Silver Bible]. Povel Nilsen and Peder Kremmer patronize Blessed Nils Trulsen's children at Kristianstad exchange 22 April 1616. In the exchange 26 February 1616 we meet Nils Trulsen in Kristianstad in a dispute with Mr Peder Olssen in Araslöv about a farm in Vä which Nils bought from Mr. Peder in 1610 but not yet paid. In the Mayor's Book May 13, 1616, the Royal Majesty appealed to Nils Torkildsen in Araslöv and Peder Nilsen in Strö, who was Nils Trulsen's brother, that the small inheritance that was after Nils T [rulsen] and his wife, should accompany the children to food and clothing, who was apparently staying with his uncle. Povel Nilsen and Peder Kremmer became free from the guardianship.

A case concerning dispute over house location was held on August 12, 1616 for Kristianstad exchange. Goldsmith Povel Nilsen testifies that he wanted to take this place to his wife's mother, Elline Erik Pills. Povel Nilsen announced on September 2, 1616, in Kristianstad exchange, that because his wife's mother, Elline Erik Piils, had let a small piece of house inside the yard in the place she was expelled, and she is further forbidden to build there, request Povel 4 men who can check on the same house can be as satisfied as a town building inside the yard, just like others their neighbors. By the end of 1616, goldsmith Povel Nielssen had appeared for the exchange as a result of his mother-in-law, Ellina Erik Piils, who built a stiche house on his site at present Östra Storgatan no.28 [City at Helgeå, p.213].

Guardians of Blessed Nils Schriffuer's children are appointed September 15, 1617 in Kristianstad exchange. Povel Nilsen became the guardian of his son Henrik. For the children Peder, Else and Margrete, Peder Povelsen, Anders Mickelsen and Peder Kremmer became the guardians. Nils Schriffuer is the same as Mayor Nils Lauritsen. He also has the son Laurids Nilsen. The widow Kirstine is mentioned Blessed March 6, 1620.

According to Kristianstad Town Hall Book February 16, 1618, Povel Nilsen and Rasmus Pedersen Pill were reconciled in the tire they had in force, which Blessed Elline Erik Pils owed Povel Nilsen. It appears that Elline lived with Povel Nilsen and that he has an inheritance in one of the two houses she owned. One house will now be sold and Rasmus Piil will pay debt and inheritance to Povel Nilsen, and inheritance of 14 dollars silver coins to Peder Kremmer.

July 9, 1618 [1638?] Bought and acquired Påvel Nilsson the farm on Södergatan that Johan Carock's wife Carine Willumsdatter has inherited from her father Willum and which Påvel Nilsson already lives. The farm was located between Nils Pedersson in the south and Christen Lantz farm in the north.

The goldsmith Powel Nielsen was buried on November 7, 1619 in Kristianstad. Kristianstad Town Hall Book December 2, 1619 states that Peder Christensen Kremer and Peder Eriksen were appointed as guardians of the blessed goldsmith Povel's children.

Birte Boström after going through Vä's heritage book 1592-1614:

"A parable that tells us that Elline Erick Piils is Povel Nielsen Goldsmith's mother-in-law. It appears in this, that Elline Erik has previously been married to a Peder and this Peder she has the children Rasmus Pedersen, Inger Pedersdotter (g. Peder Kremmer) and Anne Pedersdotter (g. Povel Nielsen jeweler). Elline also has children with Erick Nielsen Piil (change after him in 1602). These were Niels Ericksen, Johanne Ericksdotter (died before 25 November 1602) and Anne Ericksdotter (dead before 25 Nov 1602). Erick Nielsen Piil may be identical to the village bailiff in Please Erick Nielsen mentioned 1594 Nov. 11 (p. 21). As for the family name Piil, so can it be Rasmus Pedersen who took his stepfather's name Piil, or it could be Erick Nielsen who took his wife f.d. husband's name. See my previous statement about Peder Piil in Vä mentioned approx. 1570. (Unless both belong to the Piil family!) The following is the shift from Västad's heritage book (the pages in this order: 124, 123, 126, 125, 128, 127) First page, p. 124, in the original, the rest modernized. First, however, I would like to mention that the shift is really two shifts in one. Partly between Elline and her son Niels Ericksen and partly between Elline and all her children after her two deceased daughters, Johanne Eriksdt. and Anne Eriksdt., who were full sisters to Niels Eriksen and half-sisters to Rasmus Pedersen, Inger Pedersdt. and Anne Pedersdt. Rasmus Pedersen should still be unmarried. That Povel Goldsmith will release the others the heirs of their parts that could not be changed indicate that he is married to one of the daughters, who must then be Anne Pedersdotter. Get out of town inheritance book 1603 d.31 aug. (pages 137,139,140,142) Change between Inger Sal. Hans Bardshers and her two children Mothen and Karine Hansdotter. Guarding the children is Pouell Goldsmith and Johann Nibur. It is mentioned that Inger will marry Peder Kremmer. Inger is identical to Inger Pedersdotter, sister of Anne Pedersdotter who was Povel Nielsen Guldsmeds wife.

Här nedan följer skiftet ur Vä stads arvebok ( sidorna i denna ordning: 124, 123, 126, 125, 128, 127) Första sidan , sid. 124, i original, resten moderniserade.
