About Anne Skipwith

Edmund Kemp, Gent., died intestate in 1660 (date of appraisal of his estate).[1][3] His widow, Anne, married second, to Grey Skipwith,[4] Knt., 3rd Baronet,[3] of Lancaster County (later Middlesex County), Virginia, before 10 July 1661.[1] Sir Grey died before February 1672 and Anne died on 5 March 1685 in Christ Church parish, Middlesex County, Virginia.[1]

Records Regarding Ann and Her (Step-) Son, William

In Middlesex County, July 6, 1674 order of court was made in favor of Dame Anne Skipwith, in behalf of her son, Sir William Skipwith, on her petition to the court February 1672 vz. Mr. William Dudley for a parcel of land.[2] In 1680 an order was issued regarding Dame Anne Skipwith, mother and guardian of Sir William Skipwith.[2] Sir William Skipwith resided in Virginia, died 1730. Sir William Skipwith was the son of Sir Grey Skipwith by his first wife Elizabeth.

Her parents were Edmund Kempe II (c. 1625 - c.1680) & wife Ann LNU (last name unknown) who settled in Lancaster County, VA. Mary had 1 younger sister, Anne Kempe Hundley(c. 1660 - aft 1704): (m. Philip Hundley bef. 1684). Mary's 1704 will in Gloucester Co. named Anne & Philip Hundley.
