About Annette "Ann"" Sedgbear-Price
Ann Hopkins born 1782 of England married Joseph Sedgbear (Sedgebeer) born 1777 of West Somerset, Bristol England in 1803. They had two children, Elizabeth and Joseph. Joseph, her husband joined the First British regiment as a foot guard in 1805 during the Napoleonic Wars. He later died from injuries sustained in 1809. Ann remarried to Samuel Price. Ann and Samuel departed for Canada shortly afterward living in Canada for several years before settling and eventually dying in Rochester, NY. It is believed Ann acted as guardian for her grandchildren by the second marriage of her son, Joseph to a "Katharine." Katherine died of an illness on July 6. 1840 at age 35 during travel. She reportedly left two small children. In Ann Hopkins-Sedgebeer-Price will (died 4/13/1847) lists:" No husband. Children: John, Rachel Hopkins, Ann, wife of Thomas Edwards, probably of Bristol, England; Elizabeth (Sedgebeer) late wife of Thomas C. Tate of Moreghen, North Cumberland CO. Canada West and the petitioner and executioner, Joseph Sedgebeer." From Somerset, England records we know Elizabeth and Joseph were children of Joseph Sedgebear and Ann (Hopkins) Sedgebear but John, Rachel and Ann weren't accounted.
