About Annie Ferry
Annie died in the "Big Flu" in 1918. This flu spread across Europe at the end of the First World War and was given the name The Spanish Flu. This killed more people than the War itself. It is estimated that the flu killed 50million people but some have it as high as 100 million worldwide. This compares with the killing fields of Europe between 1914 and 1918 when between 20 and 40 million people died. It was given the name The Spanish Flu because the first recorded fatalities were in Spain.
Annie doesn't appear on the 1911 census for the family - presumably she was working outside the home at the time. There is one possible match in Co. Donegal, a servant to a Presbyterian farmer in Newtowncunningham http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Donegal/Castleforw...
