Obituary:
"On Tuesday morning at 6:55 o'clock, at his home at 730 W. St. Peters street, this city [New Iberia], Timecourt A. Viator died surrounded by the members of his family. The end came as a result of an attack of Lagrippe, which turned into pneumonia. His last illness was but of ten days duration. When it was evident that the end might be apprehended the absent members of his family of children were apprised and they all gathered at his bedside.

Mr. Viator, who was born on the 12th day of November, 1840, was just budding into young manhood when the Civil War broke out. He went from this section with those who fought four long years for the honor of the flag of the "Lost Cause". After the surrender he returned to his home to pick up the thread of life in the effort to solve some of its problems. There were but few avenues for profitable employment open to him at the time. Possessed of a hardy constitution and a determination to succeed, he took up his work as it presented itself to him without useless complaining. In time he built up a considerable business as a boss drayman, which allowed him to provide for the necessities of a family of ten children, all now living.

When the grim messenger Death delivered his last summons on earth, his children had gathered to administer to his last physical and mental comforts and to receive his last blessing. His sons, Timecourt, of Jennings; Ovignac, of Vinton; Andre, Odra, and Rene of this city, and his daughters, Mrs. Sam'l LeBlanc, Mrs. A. H. St. Martin of Jennings, Mrs. J. L. Gonzales, Mrs. Joe Cordova and Mrs. A. C. Bernard, were all at their old home with their father in his last moments on earth. Their children number fifty six.

The funeral services took place from St. Peters Catholic Church on Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock and his remains were laid to rest with his ancestors in St. Peters Cemetery." ["The Weekly Iberian", Feb. 17, 1917].
