About Anton Wawrzyniec Polczynski
Anton Pulezinski arrived in New York aboard the ship "Strassburg" from Bremen on 25 April, 1880.
Letter from Ilean Polczynski, December 18, 1977:
"Here's what I know about Grandma and Grandpa Polczinski (Julia and Anton respectively). Grandpa came from Koscierzyna and Grandma from a small village near Wdzydze from far back as I can recall her talking about that area. Dad said the name of her village was wouca (pronounced woof-tsa). I've tried to locate such a village or something resembling this spelling but I can't. They came to Pulaski to settle about 1889.
"As to occupations, Grandpa worked as a farm hand in Europe and was such a man here but he was an assessor for the town of Angelica for some time. There doesn't seem to be any royalty or knights in their families. Grandma worked for a land baron as I recall her telling me. Grandpa worked for a man named Nigbor.
"The correct way to spell our name of course is Polczynski. Other spellings were for reasons of preference among our own kin."
