About Archibald John Campbell
A fur trader, he "died at the hand of Redford Crawford, a British trader, in a pistol duel at Pon-ta-gan-ipy (Drummond Island) on August 8, 1808. The argument was allegedly over a bottle but most likely there was a basic difference of opinions about the fur trade."
Drummond Island's Part in the War of 1812 by Jill Lowe Brumwell (2012), page 38.
