Will of ARCHIBALD CARMICHAEL. Wife Sally two beds and furniture. All kitchen furniture and farming utensils. Dau. P. 4. Sarah Graves tract of land I now live on and her two children, Thomas and Jain Graves. Wife, Sally, to live on it her lifetime. Collect notes due. Waggon to be sold to pay debts. Ballance to be equally divided among my children: Richard, Sterling, Sandy, Joseph, Jain Miller, Elizabeth Fulk. I have given my son Archibald his full share of $70 or upward. Son Joseph Carmichael, exr. Wit: James Lovell, Thomas B. King. A. (X) CARMICHAEL".
No son named Duncan or daughter named Christian noted in the will.

Archibald, Mary, and daughter Katherine departed Scotland 4 Sep, 1775, on the ship Jupiter of Larne to Wilmington N C. The father of Archibald may have been a brother or cousin of the father of Dougald Carmichael (ca 1750-1835) of Marion Co., SC. There was a Hugh Carmichael (wife Margaret) in the 1790 Richmond Co. NC Census who could have been a son of Archibald or his brother Duncan. Hugh filed a will in 1803 and died in 1806.
