Archie S., Sr. was the son of Dannie and Lucy Lowry Deese. He was named after his maternal grandfather, Archie Lowry. He married Carrie Lee Locklear on Feb. 21, 1921 in Robeson county, North Carolina.

The following was taken from the Apr. 15, 1970 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:

Archie S. Deese, 67, died Tuesday in Southeastern General Hospital. The funeral will be conducted Thursday in Pembroke Holiness Church by the Rev. Wade Locklear, the Rev. Simeon Cummings and the Rev. James Legette. Burial will be in St. Anna Church Cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Carrie Lee Deese; his sons, Bill James, Ray, Paul, Donald and Archie Deese, Jr., all of Pembroke, Harold Deese of Greensboro and Ronald Deese of Detroit; his daughters, Mrs. Joseph Bullard, Mrs. William E. Pate, Mrs. Thomas Parker, and Mrs. Eugene Locklear of Pembroke, Mrs. Howard Detagther of Wisconsin; a brother, Montgomery Deese of Detroit.
