The Chronicon Astense records the marriage in 1306 of "Theodorus filius Imperatoris Græcorum" and "filiam Opecini Spinolæ dicti de Luculis tunc Capitanei Januæ…Argentinam"[400]. Pachymeres records the marriage of "quidam Spinulus…filia" and "filium imperatoris Theodorum", dated to [1306] from the context[401]. Benvenuto di San Giorgio, quoting Ruffino Ventura Astense, records the marriage of "Theodorus filius Imperatoris Græcorum" and "filiam Oppicini Spinulæ tunc Capitanei Januæ…Argentinam"[402].

In 1307 he married a Genoese lady, Argentina Spinola, daughter of the lord of that city, Opicino Spinola. They had two children, John (1313-1372) and Yolande (1318-1342), who married Aimone, Count of Savoy.
