Gaol reported Arthur as being an 'old offender'

Appears to have been assigned to a boat crew in Hobart once completion of his probation period, servicing moored boats and prison hulks (York). This provides insight as to why Atkins became a whaler; in a row-boat

NOTE:

There are two dates 12 mo. apart for the baptism of Arthur Atkins (FreeReg & FamilySearch), whose parents in each case were Ann & Edward. This could be a transcription error, or alternatively, the boy baptised in 1802 died soon thereafter with Ann already pregnant with a son who was baptised on the same date 12 mo. later. Possible?, maybe, but unlikely.
