Arthur Moseley, son of William Moseley, an English merchant of Rotterdam, Holland, who came to Virginia in 1649 and received grants of land in Lower Norfolk County, was Burgess in 1676, and one of the justices of his county. He died in 1705?
Arthur lived at Greenwich, his father's plantation on the eastern branch of the Elizabeth River, for the next six years. When his father died in 1655, he received a sizeable inheritance, including property on Broad Creek where he lived for about 30 years before moving about 1690 to Norfolk town.
Arthur was a Member of the House of Burgesses for Lower Norfolk in 1676 at the time of Bacons Rebellion. Arthur came to Virginia with his parents in 1649. Arthur arrived in Virginia in 1649. He resided in Lynn Haven and in Norfolk.
Order of children follows that and Arthur's will, even though the girls and boys are listed separately for his second wife, and are probably therefore not in chronological order.

Her Michael's wife's] maiden name is unknown.
- ********* Research of Jan Dawson, 3/2001 Michael Waldrop (son or grandson of the immigrant, depending on whom you believe) was born about 1700. Years ago, David Smith found a name he believed to be SARAH WALDROP in the will of her father, Arthur Moseley, and he thought she had married Michael Waldrop. He shared this information, and it has been widely distributed since then.
Later David said he had erred, but he could not find the proof of his error. Becoming tired of seeing this Sarah Moseley Waldrop posted on the web and in people's databases as Michael's wife, I decided to search for the proof one way or another.
Arthur Moseley wrote his will in 1729 and it was proved in 1730, but those early records are not on file and many, if not most, are gone. For $20, the State Archives of Virginia will search its files for an individual, and, this seemed the only way to determine if the will was there. So, I sent an application and on it stated my dilemma about Sarah Moseley.
Today I received a copy of Arthur's will. It is the cleanest, most readable reproduction I have ever seen. Knowing my problem, the librarian had been kind enough to enlarge the document to two pages, 15" X 20" in size. There is no question about what it says.
Henrico Co. Deeds and Wills, 1725-1737. Reel 7a, pp. 272, 273 Arthur Moseley's will was written in Henrico Co., VA on Feb 22, 1729 and proved on July 6, 1730. Arthur mentioned his wife Elizabeth and his children. The witnesses were Micha (an abbreviation for Michael) Turpin, John Allday and R. Giles. In reference to his daughter, Sarah, it says, "Then I give and bequeath unto my daughter SARAH WALKER [NOT SARAH WALDROP!] my Negrow garl Nancy that lives with her. I allso give hur my grate black walnut char, my little black walnut table that uset to stand by the fire. One cow and calf or with calf and three other cattle. One iron poot [pot] and sute of curtains and vallins [valance] hur chire." --jd
