Arthur Marcus Markus REWALD: 2 Dec 1880, Berlin - d. Jan-March 1957, Willesden

cf. Wikipedia etc. biographies of second wife "Lotte EROL-DEYERS"

And significantly a wonderful website (only in French) focusing on her last years spent in France. This displays an incredible collection of family correspondence together with both very informative and extremely touching accounts and comments plus several poignant photos - especially of the little girl Anja ...

Notably it is pointed out that, in fact, daughter Anja's father is NOT Hans SCHAUL but a good friend of his - Heinrich RAU.(German of Aryan heritage, likewise heavily engaged in Resistance etc. activities).
A letter sent to Ruth by her own father Arthur M. REWALD in London also refers to "Lotte" and her worry about her "two sisters in Vienna" from whom she hasn't heard for a long time ...
Herta NINGO is mentioned too here - though the surname incorrectly deciphered as "WINGO?" ...
Yet another source showing the links between various REWALD family members is:
Ningo, Herta: Family papers (1880-1973) - Archives Hub
https://archiveshub.jisc.ac.uk/search/archives/475309da-36ff-3e3c-b...
However, there is a misunderstanding as to the relationship between Herta's mother Meta née REWALD and Arthur REWALD. They were cousins NOT siblings.
Scope and Content
Herta Ningo and Ningo family papers, 1880-1973 including school certificates, including from Rosa Smilowski; Jewish Reichspass; Red Cross letter from her mother, Meta Ningo; personal papers of the Rewald and Salzmann families including birth and marriage certificates; identity card with photo attached of Arthur Rewald; certificate of withdrawal from the Jewish community; correspondence to the Heilmann family in Berlin from the lawyer, Max Auerbach and Rewald (?) regarding restitution for the loss of income from the business, 18 Oct 1955-21 Sep 1956; original documents relating to Arthur Rewald's tax expenditure and photograph of the Heilmanns, 1934-1939.
Administrative / Biographical History
Herta Ningo, a German Jew born in Berlin in 1911, arrived in Great Britain shortly after 11 July 1939 (the date she left Hamburg according to her passport). She was the daughter of Max Ningo a businessman who died in 1930, and Meta nèe Rewald, who, according to the memorial book for Berlin Jews who died during the Holocaust, committed suicide, 15 Jan 1942. The only correspondence between mother and daughter is a Red Cross telegram in which Meta responds on 12 Jan 1941.
Arthur Rewald was the brother of Meta Ningo, Herta's mother. Arthur Rewald married Elsa Salzmann in 1933.
Arrangement
The papers have been arranged chronologically in the following sections: the family Ningo; the family Rewald/ Salzmann and post-war restitution material.
