ARTHUR STRANG OF JACKTON

Arthur Strang of Jackton, here treated, is the eldest son of Robert Strang of Newlandsmuir NRS: GD1/221/60 The name of his mother is not recorded in his baptismal record but there is good reason for supposing that she was Agnes Gilmour He was born before 3 August 1735, the date upon which his baptism was registered at Eaglesham in Renfrewshire, Scotland. He was probably born at North Muirhouse there for that is where his parents were living at the time of his birth. His baptismal record reads as follows: "August 3d 1735.
