Robert Strang in North Muirhouse, younger, here treated, is the son, probably the eldest son of Robert Strang in North Muirhouse, elder He and his brother John Strang are mentioned in their father's testament dative and inventory which was confirmed on 31 July 1695. [NRS: CC9/7/46]

Robert Strang of Newlandsmuir was identified as Robert Strang in Ardoch when he purchased a fifty shilling land at Jackton in East Kilbride from David Reid of Westend for seventeen thousand merks. Death

Robert Strang of Newlandsmuir, here treated, died intestate in 1786. He probably died soon after Whitsunday in 1786, the last day upon which his son John Strang was due to pay him an annuity from the lands of Newlandsmuir. [NRS: CC10/5/11

His Testament Dative and Inventory

Robert Strang of Newlandsmuir died intestate in 1786. His testament dative and inventory was given up by his son William Strang in Newlandsmuir on 22 February 1787. William was recognised as his deceased father's executor dative. At the time of his death Robert Strang of Newlandsmuir was owed 500 merks Scots money in annuity payments. These were due to be paid by his son John Strang of Newlandsmuir, to whom he had transferred ownership of the lands of Newlandsmuir. Robert Strang, baker and portioner in Kirkton of Kilbride, acted himself as cautioner for the executor dative, and his bond of caution, which was executed at the Kirkton of Kilbride on 26 February 1787, was witnessed by John Strang, shoemaker at the Kirkton of Kilbride, and James Knox of Nether Shiels. Confirmation was granted to William Strang in Newlandsmuir on 5 March 1787. Robert Strang in North Muirhouse, elder, died intestate in March 1685. His testament dative and inventory was given up on 30 July 1685 by his son John Strang, who protested that the confirmation of this testament should not prejudice the assignations and dispositions that his deceased father made in his favour, and in favour of his brother Robert Strang. Alexander Davidson, tailor in Glasgow, acted himself as cautioner for the executor dative and confirmation was granted to John Strang on 30 July 1685.
