About Arye Leib Landau
According to memoirs of Yaakov Weinshall [in Russian], grandson of Arye Leib Landau:
https://www.antho.net/jr/9.2001/15.php
Books of my grandfather Arye, father of my mother, - five big volumes of commentaries to Maimonides commentaries, written by his great-grandfather - subject of his proudness - were stored separately, and I could see them only when my grandfather vent to synagogue to read their fragments to his devoted listeners.
http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/articles/9608-landau tells about a member of Landau family who wrote a book on Maimonides:
Eleazar ben Israel Landau:
Rabbi of Brody, where he died of cholera in 1831. He was the author of a work entitled "Yad ha-Melek," novellæ on Maimonides' "Yad" and notes to the Talmud (parts i. and iv., Lemberg, 1829; part ii. ib. 1810). Bibliography:
Eisenstadt-Wiener, Da'at Ḳedoshim, p. 133.''
In another publication, https://jew-observer.com/pod-znakom-nobelya/nemerknushhij-svet-geniya/ Yakov Weinshall was even more specific:
Our grandfather, by whom [Nobel Prize winner] Lev Landay is named, was from a well-known family of direct descendants of the famous rabbi of the second half of XVIII century Ezekiel Landau of Prague. ... Though my grandfather was not a rabbi, he spent his time in one of rooms at synagogue over the book "Yad a-Melekh" that comments the treatise "Mishna Torah" by Rambam. He claimed that the "Yad a-Melekh" was written by one of his ancestors named Eliezer Landau.
On the other hand, it exists a contradictory piece of info. The former memoirs by Yakov Weinshall were published , with scientific comments. The comment #19 says about the book:
Rabbi Isaac - Eliahu ben Shmul Landau, who was born 1801 in Vilna (Vilnius), and died 1876 in the same city. He was a member a Jewish religious court of Vilna. He authored multiple books, including commentaries to Maimonides commentaries.
Beyond reasonable doubt, the comment refers to LANDAU, ISAAC ELIJAH BEN SAMUEL https://www.encyclopedia.com/religion/encyclopedias-almanacs-transc...
Assuming the comment is correct, Arye Landau would be a descendant of a different branch of Landau family. However, the comments contain at least one serious mistake: the patronymic Samuel is different from Shmul [Solomon]. Moreover, the encyclopedia does not mention "commentaries to Maimonides commentaries" authored by Issac Eliahy Landau. Hardly the article would skip a multi volume treatise.
