Asa Rogers

Note: Many on-line trees and even published genealogies say that Asa Rogers died 7 May 1804. This is an error stemming from a self-published genealogy from 1902. In reality, Asa died 7 May 1824 -- which seems obvious, since 1804 was before most of his children were born.

Asa married twice:

1. Hannah Harris, b. 1743 - daughter of Ephraim Harris of Salem, Connecticut
2. Sarah Reynolds, m. 23 December 1798

Asa had the following children, all with Sarah:

3. George Washington, b. 1803; not heard from again after moving to the U.S. South

5. Asa Harris, Jr., b. 1806 - d. 1876; m. five times, one daughter
6. Julia Etta, b. 1808 - m. Rufus Watrous
7. Eliza Goodman, b. 1810
8. Simeon Smith, b. 1812 - d. 1874; m. (1) Ann Hurlburt, (2) Margaret Hurlburt
9. Harriet Jane Mary, b. 1813 - d. 1881; m. (1) Frederick Hale, (2) Henry Moore
10. Nancy Cordelia, b. 1815
11. Sarah Reynolds, b. 1818; m. FNU Brownell
12. Esther Gates b. 1820 - d. 1886; m. William A. Gaylord

William Hazen, Asa Harris, and Simeon Smith went on to be the founders of the famed Rogers Brothers silver company, with operations in Meriden, Connecticut.
