Presentations to Miss Vernon, Hanbury Hall. — On Saturday last, 18 August 1883, Miss Vernon had the following presentations made to her on the anniversary of her birthday: From the workmen of the parish, an exceedingly handsome silver and engraved glass epergne, standing upon a beautiful plateau, and bearing the following appropriate inscription: — "From the cottagers and workmen of the parish of Hanbury, to Miss Auda Letitia Vernon, Saturday, 18 August 1883;" and from the farmers of Hanbury and neighbourhood, an envelope case, blotting book, inkstand, and pair of candlesticks, all made of solid Algerian onyx, with charming raised flowers carved from Italian shells and stones, all in the natural colours, the whole having a most beautiful effect. Both of the above were presented by Mr. J. A. Willis, bailiff of The Home Farm, with some well-chosen words. Also, at the same time and place, Mr. Millard, on behalf of the teachers of Hanbury Sunday School, in which Miss Vernon has for some years taught a class, presented a beautiful cross of the same materials and workmanship as the envelope case, etc., and matches them in every particular. The whole were supplied by Mr. Manning, High-street, Worcester. There were several other presents given at the same time, evincing the love and respect in which Miss Vernon and her family are held in the county.
