1883 (3 May) arrived in New York from Bremen, Germany on the ship "Braunschweig" - destination: Baltimore, Maryland.

August Cierzan. 99, 1051 East Wabasha street, died at 12:15 a. m. today at his home after a brief illness. Death was due to the infirmities of age. Mr. Cierzan, a former section hand for the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad, had been retired since 1920. He was born August 26, 1852, in Parchowo, Poland, and came to Winona from there 70 years ago. He was a member ol the Third Order of St. Francis of St. Stanislaus church. Survivors are two sons, Felix, at home, and John, Winona: two daughters, Mrs. John (Jennie) Miller, Winona, and Mildred, at home; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday at 9 a. m. at St. Stanislaus church, the Rev. N. F. Grulkowski officiating. Preliminary services will be at the Watkowski funeral home at 8:30 a. m. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery. The rosary will be said at the funeral home Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 p. m.. Father Grulkowski leading the rosary Sunday evening. The Third Order of St Francis will meet for prayers at the funeral home Saturday at 2 p. m. Friends may caU there Saturday after 7 p. m. and Sunday after 2 p. m.
