About Aunt Jessie
Winifred Healy told my mom the story of how Aunt Jessie came to be known as "Jessie" when her name was really Bridget. She said that when "Bridget" first came to America, she worked for a weel to do family as a housekeeper or maid or such. The family had a beautiful daughter named Jessie. Bridget had hated her own name so when she went for a new job and the new family asked her name, she said "Jessie", and everyone called her that ever since.
FYI: We have Aunt Jessie's original birth certificate.
