Mary was the mother of ten children while she was married to Michael. She also worked as cook for one of the wealthier families in Bandon. (There is some stray silverware that has made it into my mom's possesions that is said to have come from that family.) Ten children was a lot of mouths to feed shortly after the potato famine, and that is why 5 of the children came over to the Unite States. We still remain in touch with Katherine's family, and we have visited and met Bartholomew's family.
FYI: We have Mary's wedding band. It was given to Aunt Jessie, and then passed dowm to Aunt Helen, and she gave it to my mom.
