About Balthasar Wennerich

NOTE: Parents aren't confirmed. Other possible parents are Johann Philip Weinrich and Anna Wick, or Thomas Wennerich (1640-1678) and Maria Magdalena Elizabetha Krafft (1642-1677).

Wenrich Family History from the Tulpehocken Settlement Historical Society does not indicate burial infomation for Balser. He is not buried at Friedens or any other local cemetery.

An Embarkation List of Germans from the Rhineland going to London in 1709 included Balzar Weinrich with his wife, a daughter and three sons (ages 7, 5 and 3). Balzar was listed as a husbandman and vinedresser.

A Colonial Census of Palatines at New York in 1710 shows the family comprised of Baltzar (40), Elizabeth (30), Maria Eliz. (17), Hans George (9) and Johan Maltheis (6).

About 1717, a "Simmendinger Register" listed Balthasar Wenrig at Wormsdorff, a camp on the Hudson above New York.

Records of the Kingston, New York Dutch Church show Baltus and Magdalena Wenrig as baptismal sponsors for a grandson, Baltus Beshore, on July 31, 1720.

In 1722 the Palatines were invited to Pennsylvania where they would be given land for homes. It appears that Balser Wennerick may have first gone to Lancaster Co. as he was taxed there in 1724 and 1726.

However, in 1726, he was also a baptismal sponsor for Mathias' son, Balthaser, along with his wife, Magdalene, at the Little Tulpehocken Church west of Bernville.

A third wife, Catharine Weidman, appears when she and Balthasar Wendrich marry on February 6, 1739 at the New Holland Lutheran Church in Lancaster County.
