The 1830 US Census for the Teritory of Michigan, Michilimackinac, Chippewa, lists "Bazil Beaulieu" as being 40-49 years of age, with "free white males" one each of under 5, 10-14, & 15-19; and free white females, one each under 5, and 10-14, with two from 15-29, and one 30-39 (probably wife).

In 1818 Basile is listed among the "Roster of Employees" of the American Fur Company. The town of Beauleu, Mahnomen County, Minnesota, is named after the descendents of Basile and his Ojibway wife. It is believed that Basile H. Beaulieu died SEP 9, 1838 at LaPointe, Wisconsin and is buried in the Beauleu burial grounds at La Pointe, Wisc. In the Wisconsin Historical Collections xix, pp. 163-233 is published a translation of the journal of Francois Victor Mahliot who was in charge of the Lac du Flambeau post in the year 1804-5, in which he makes numerous mention of Bazille Beaulieu, and also says that Bazile Beauileu was employed at Lac du Flambeau by the American Fur Company as an inter-preter at a salary of $2,400, and was discharged in 1819 (see list in Wisconsin Historical Collections, xii, page 154.)
