BESSIE HOWSE It is with profound sadness we make known Bessie Howse in her 89th year passed away in her home at Leisureworld-Ellesmere on June 2, 2010. Surrounded by her children she will be sorely missed. Born in Cape Island, Newfoundland on February 5, 1922, she immigrated to Toronto to find her one and only love and to raise her family of four. Predeceased by her late husband Herbert in 2005, brother Fred and sisters Emily, Winnie and Beryl. Survived by her siblings Shirley, Marie, Eric, Levina and Pearce. Her children Nancy (Hardy), Janet (Larry), John (Marilyn) and Alan (Denise). Nana will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Melanie, Matthew, Susan, Jaclyn, Marcus and Rachel. Longtime former employee of Eaton's (Don Mills) and active in the Scarborough community and United Church. She spent her last 5 years at Leisureworld -Ellesmere where she developed many friendships. The family would like to acknowledge with thanks to the staff and caregivers for her happiness and well being. They were the ones that made it her 'home' and where she wanted to be in the end. We also would like to thank our dear cousin Rosalind (Richard) for her regular visits and love for our mother. Family and friends will be received at McDougall & Brown Funeral Home 'Scarborough Chapel' 2900 Kingston Rd. (east of St. Clair Ave. E.), 416-267-4656. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, June 6, 2010. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Monday, June 7th at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
