B. L. Arledge aged 67 died at a local hospital last night at 8 O'clock after a short illness. He is survived by his wife; a son R. R. Arledge; three daughters; Mrs. J. T. Whittle of this city; Mrs. T. C. Waters, of Atlanta, and Mrs. E.E. Weaver of Miami FL.; a brother Mose Arledge, of Gadsden AL. Mr. Arledge has been a resident of North Chattanooga for twenty years, and was a member of Whitwell lodge, F. and A.M., and K. of P. and the Cumberland Presbyterian church.

"B.L. Arledge
Funeral services for B.L. Arledge, aged 62 years, were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence, 304 Bell avenue, North Chattanooga, the Rev. J.A. Riddle officiating. Interment followed in White Oak cemetery.
Mr. Arledge was one of the best known citizens in North Chattanooga, having lived there for the past twenty years. Tribute to his life as a citizen and church worker was paid by the pastor. - Chattanooga News.
Mr. Arledge was formerly in business in Whitwell and held in high esteem. He was a great friend of the News, and we regret to learn of his death."

Whitwell, Tenn. Mar. 17. Sam Arledge of this place died March 13, after suffering for years from an abcess of the side. He leaves five children: three girls, who have been taken to Keener, Ala, where an uncle, W.C. Arledge resides, and two boys, one of whom is at work in Pittsburg, Ga and the other at Herrin, Ill. Their mother died some six years ago. Interment was made at the Teague Cemetery east of here Wednesday and was attended by the brothers of the deceased, WC Arledge of Keener, AL and BL Arlege of Pittsburg, GA.

BIG NEWS !!! My uncle said that he found a picture of Beard Lafayette, along with his daughter and son-in-law (the one he shot and killed). I'm not positive, but it may be included with the newspaper clipping about the
shooting. Uncle Bill said that the shooting was in "self-defense". There are a lot of foggy areas involved here. Uncle Bill said that he was told Beard Lafayette was dead by the time his father was 8 years old (Robert R.
Arledge, Jr.), but according to the obit, he wouldn't have been deceased until several years later. We will dig into this in depth when I go up to visit him.
