July 1530: Draft signature for letters permitting Robert, Lord Maxwell, to resign his liferent of the lands of Cartisbrig and Feludar, Brume, Newtoun, Mawlatis-Houch, Crouk, Braidleyis, Hassaldan, Tetwad and Humby, Kirkbrig and the Schaw, Kirkhill, Blakhous, Brumehous and Sufeild, in the lordship of the Meirnis and sheriffdom of Renfrew, in favour of Beatrice Douglas, daughter of James, earl of Mortoun, notwithstanding Lord Maxwell's danger of forfeiture. Biographical Summary by Darryl Lundy's Peerage

Lady Beatrix Douglas was the daughter of James Douglas, 3rd Earl of Morton and Catherine Stewart.1 She married Robert Maxwell, 5th Lord Maxwell, son of Robert Maxwell, 4th Lord Maxwell and Janet Douglas, after 25 July 1530.2 She died after 31 October 1583.3

From after 25 July 1530, her married name became Maxwell.2

In 1562 she was certified a lunatic.3
