Ben Visser (1948 - 2018)

Brief overview:

Ben (70), a widower who lived alone, and a well-known labor consultant who assisted many major businesses in the region for years with disputes and related matters, was believed to have been killed in his home in Klipwagter Street, Three Rivers East, on Saturday, August 4. His son, who lives in Pretoria, became uneasy on Sunday morning when he found Mr. Visser could not reached by phone. He called the neighbours and asked them to try and find out if everything was okay at his father's house. The shock murder of Mr. Visser then came to light.

According to Captain Fikile Funda, spokesperson for the Vereeniging police, it was determined upon closer examination that Mr. Visser's throat was cut open. It was clear that his house had been looted and several items stolen.

  • Three suspects, including his gardener, were arrested in connection with the murder and both Mr. Visser's stolen vehicles were apparently recovered in the Heidelberg area. One of the suspects, made references, which resulted in a bloodied axe as well as other articles belonging to Ben being discovered.
