! Source of inform: Slaktbok from Stugun Socken by A.J. Hanson FHL948 81S2 or on film #1440084 Translation by Ulla Ganstal, Teacher of Swedish Conversation at Langara College Vancouver. In the year 1540 on St Henriks Day (19 Jan) Policeman Jons Lauritzson and Law Offical Erik Nilsson made known through an open letter in the name of King Christian 111 Fredriksson, that he had given Bengt, Ivar and Olof the Cottage at Ragunda Forest. They were to get it Tax free providing that they would help with the Kings transportation for two months. This would involve a heavy expense to provide transport, food etc. Bengt, Ivar and Olof were to take turns doing this, one year each. Then the farm on three sides would be written off from Taxes. That would refer to one tax mile (one Swedish mile is approx. 51/2 Canadian miles) on each side, besides that, they received an extension in the area that they got to own, with another mile added onto the three sides of the farm, which were called"avradsmilar". Total width then became two miles in every direction from the farm on three sides. These three brothers, Bengt, Ival and Olof, who now received Cottage man's (Stugukarl) employment were with all probibility sons to the last Stugukarl Erik Harvardsson. In an old History book from the year 1546 only Bength from Stugun is named as a Farmer there. He paid three furs in Tax to the Crown. This Bengt would be considered headman of the Farm and that is why the other two were not mentioned.
