About Benjamin C. Hatcher, Sr

1 April 1680: Edward Hatcher, son of William Hatcher, of Varina Parish, Henrico Co., dec'd, to Benjamin Hatcher, son of said William Hatcher, for sake of quiet and peaceable settlement of estate left by their father and to avoid future suits and quarrels, confer each to the other 1/2 of personal estate left by their father. Edward grants to Benjamin 200 acres of land at Varina, lately in occupation of said William, and one tract called "Pigg in the Bole" in same county, near land of Thomas Holmes, 100 acres; also one tract called "Turkey Island", 150 acres. (establishes William as his father and Edward as his brother -- [Harry Kenneth Doggett])

1 AUG. 1683: Benjamin Hatcher, my brother, has purchased of me, Edward Hatcher of Henrico Co., a piece of land called "Turkey Island Point", 150 acres; which land was purchased by my father William Hatcher, of Daniel and John Price. This land was sold by my said brother to John Pleasants 18 Oct. 1681. I, for more perfect assurance of said land, release all claim to John Pleasants. 22 Dec. 1682 . Wit: Richard Kennon, Tho. 30 JULY 1736: Deed. Jeremiah Hatcher of H Co, planter, sells Jno Pleasants of H Co, mercht, for L 50., 50 acres on N side James River adj land where Thos Pleasants lives half a mile from the River. Also adj the River. Land formerly conveyed to sd Jeremiah Hatcher from Benj Hatcher and Eliz his wife. Signed Jeremiah hatcher. Wit: Joseph Childers, John Enroughty, William Frogmorton, Tho x Childers. Rec. 1st Monday in October 1736.

Will of Benjamin Hatcher:

 In the Name of God Amen I Benjamin Hatcher, Senr. of the County of Henrico being aged, Sick and weak, but of perfect mind and Memory thanks be to Almighty God for the same Doo make ordain institute, and appoint this my last will and Testament in manner and Form following. I first bequeath my Soul to God that gave it and my Body to the Mother Earth to be decently buried at the Discretion of my Executor hereafter named and as for my worldy Goods I give and Bequeth as followeth: 

Item: I give and bequeath unto my Son Benjamin Hatcher a parsell of Land lying and being between the Lines of Thomas Holmes and Solomon Nibb near the Road by Estimation forty-five acres be the same more or Less with all the Apurtenances thereunto belonging to him the sd Benjamin and his Heirs for ever in as full ample manner to all Intents and purposes as ever was granted to me by Deed or Pattin.
Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Henry Hatcher all the Land and plantation whereon I now Live Lying between Thomas Holmes and Thomas Plesants called the Oaken Swamp with all the apurtenances thereunto belonging in as full ample manner as ever was granted to me by Deed or pattin.
Item: I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Sarah one Feather Bed and Furniture.
Item: I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth Childrey and to my Daughter, Mary Tindall and my Daughter Martha Hobson and to my son Jeremiah to each and every one of them one Schilling Sterling apiece and all the rest of my personal Estate I give unto my beloved wife Elizabeth during her Life then to be divided equally to my two sons, Benjamin Henry and Daughter Sarah making ordaining and Appointing her the sd Elizabeth my whole and sole executor of this my last Will and Testament in witness whereof I hereunto set my Hand and fix my Seal this 23 of April, 1727.
