Benjamin Hinds

Family home in West Boylston, Massachusetts. State landmark built around 1754 by Benjamin Hinds and his wife Elizabeth Temple Hinds.

BENJAMIN HINDS Son of Jacob and Grace Hinds, born in Shrewsbury Mass. 7 July 1725. He married in Shrewsbury 18 Oct 1747, Elizabeth Temple daughter of Isaac Temple of Boylston. 

   Benjamin and Elizabeth had the following children all born in West Boylston 

Elizabeth born 9 Mar 1748 Daniel born 27 Apr 1749 a Revolutionary soldier Abner born 25 Oct 1750 Abigail born 14 July 1752 marr Peter Goodale

        Benjamin   born 29 Aug 1754 died unmarried Madison Me.

            Jason      born 14 Feb 1756

Nimrod born 12 Jan 1758

           *Asher    born 11 Sept 1759

           Martha     born 29 Sept 1760 marr Oliver Sawyer

           Tabitha    born   2 Mar 1762

Benjamin’s wife Elizabeth died around 1764 possibly in child birth. Benjamin married Elizabeth’s cousin Tabitha Holland daughter of Ephraim Holland 1 July 1766 in West Boylston. Tabitha was born 4 May 1742. She was 17 years younger than Benjamin and took on a family of 10 children from 4 to 18 years old.

      Benjamin and Tabitha had the following children all born in West Boylston

Benjamin was a very successful farmer in Shrewsbury and later in West Boylston. During the Revolutionary War he loaned the Continental Congress $60,000 dollars. Benjamin died 29 Oct 1794 in West Boylston Massachusetts.
