Captain Nathaniel Hobbs, married Anna (?nee) and lived at North Hampton.
Benjamin Hobbs made his Will on March 17, 1757. It was proved on September 27, 1758 and on that day, John Wingate and Jonathan Wedgewood were authorized to appraise his estate. Their inventory was completed on October 19, 1758, in the amount of £11870 [2]

Will of Benjamin Hobbs

In the Name of God, Amen. The Seventeenth day of March 1757, I Benjamin Hobbs of Northampton in the Province of New Hampshire, in New England, Gent, Being very Sic and weak in body:

Imprimis I give and bequeath to my dearly beloved Wife Mercy Hobbs, one third of all my real Estate during her Natural Life after which her Thirds are to be equally divided between my Son Nathaniel Hobbs and my son in Law John Shepard and also I give an bequeath to my Said Wife all the Moveables [sic] in my House forever and one Half of all my Dwelling House and Sufficient Fire wood till Marriage

Item I give and bequeath to my son Benjamin Hobbs, the sum of five hundred pounds of old Tenor, to be paid, on half by son in Law John Shepherd at the time my said son Benjamin leaves College and the other half by my son Nathaniel Hobbs when my said son Nathaniel shall come to the Age of twenty one years, And also that my Said son Benjamin be supported comfortably and conveniently at College by my Sons Nathaniel Hobbs and John Shepherd

Item I give and bequeath to my son Nathaniel Hobbs the one half of all my Estate both real and personal to him and his Assigns forever

Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Mary Hobbs the Sum of three hundred pounds old tenor to be paid equally by my Son in Law the said John Shepherd and my son Nathaniel, when she arrives at the age of eighteen Years and also I give and bequeath to her a Cow and four sheep to be delivered at said Time by said sons John Shepherd and Nathaniel Hobbs and also Sufficient Fire wood and one half of my house until marriage

Item I give and bequeath to my son in Law John Shepherd the one half of my Estate both real and personal to him and his Assigns forever

Item I give and bequeath to my Grand Daughter Mehitible Marston the sum of five pounds old tenor to be paid by said sons John Shepherd and Nathaniel Hobbs

I likewise mad and ordain and constitute my Friend John Weeks Esq my sole Executor. Signed Benjamin Hobbs, Witnessed by William Moulton, Joseph Hobbs, Joseph Knowles, Proved September 27, 1758.
