Joy published by James Richard Joy, Plainfield, NJ, July 4, 1900; compiled by James Richard Joy, New York: "Tradition reports that he migrated to Vermont with his brotheres and afterward to Maine. In the Connecticut Valley towns of Cornish and Plainfield, NH in 1780-1785 were Benjamin Joy, Benjamin, Jr., Daniel, and Ebenezer, recent comers from other states. Ephraim Joy, from Cornish or vicinage, served in NH militia in 1777."
