10. Benoni BLACKLEACH (John BLACKLEACH , Sr.1) was born 14 MAY 1643 in Salem, MA. He married Dorcas Blackleach BOWMAN BEF. 13 MAY 1665. She died 22 NOV 1683 in Newbury, MA.

•   19   i. Benjamin BLACKLEACH was born 1663 in Wethersfield, Connecticut, and died AFT. 1703. He married Mary HOLMAN 18 SEP 1693 in Boston, MA, daughter of John HOLMAN and Mary Holman BLANTON. She was born 14 DEC 1667, and died AFT. 1703.
• + 20   ii. Nathaniel BLACKLEACH was born 12 OCT 1666 in Cambridge, MA, and died BEF. SEP 1726.

Hugh's marriage to Dorcas was not a happy one. Her first husband had deserted her, disappeared and was presumed dead. In 1678, two years after their wedding, Hugh, his sons Hugh and John, and his friends Thomas Woodbridge and John Taylor submitted affidavits in an action in the General Court stating that Blackleach was not dead but living in Virginia when Dorcas married Hugh and that she was fully aware of the fact but, concealed it. Dorcas denied the accusation and said that the scandalous report originated from the malice of Hugh's children. The court evidently believed her as the decision was made that Hugh should keep her as his wife.
