Bernadette "Toni" Anlauf-Swan

Bernadette "Toni" Swan, of Cottage Grove, died on October 14 at the age of 92. She was born on January 23, 1925, in Long Beach, CA to parents Frederick L. and Karen (Erickson) Thompson. She married Clay Anlauf in 1945, and they had 4 children together. They later divorced. She married James A. Swan in January 1962 in Washington. She worked as a waitress and bartender at the Canton Restaurant in Cottage Grove. She was a loving housewife, and enjoyed volleyball and bowling, travel, rafting and camping. She was an avid gardener, seamstress, and made beautiful stained glass lamps. The family has great memories of the gatherings of family and friends at their cabin in LaPine. Toni was her husband, Jim's, eyes for 16 years after he became blind. She also took great care of Jim's dad, Pappy, making homemade bread, pies, and goodies for him. She was a member of Eastern Star, a Daughter of the Niles, and a leader of Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Brownies. She is survived by son, Mike (Sandy) Anlauf of Cottage Grove; son, Mark (Morrian) Anlauf of Mukilteo, WA; daughter, Karen (Jim) Koch of Cottage Grove; son, Alan Swan of Tigard; 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Pat Anlauf and husband, James Swan. There will be a Celebration of Life and Reception at the Masonic Lodge in Cottage Grove, at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 4, 2017. The family would like to thank PeaceHealth Hospice for their excellent care of Bernadette. Arrangements in the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove.
