About Bessie Markword (Hughes)
Mrs. Bessie Markword 95, died Friday in the Boll nursing home in Quincy. She was the daughter of Robert C. and Mary McNay Hughes, born Sept. 8,1867, in Ursa township and lived in the community until entering the home four years ago. She was a a charter member of the American Legion auxiliary, Bear Creek post of Ursa and the women's auxiliary of World War I Veterans at Jacksonville and a member of the Methodist church. She was married July 26, 1892, to Charles F. Markword. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Lucy Kurtz of Roswell, Ga.; two sons, Albert of Jacksonville and Herschel of Quincy; two daughters,one being Mrs. Lydia Cramsey of Ursa. Rewritten from obituary.
