Betje van Dam

When Betje and Mozes had to leave Rotterdam with their family to enter Dutch KZ Westerbork they had to leave everything behind. After closing their home and letting all their belongings and their key to the authorities, on their way to the railwaystation, their daughter Saartje stepped in a nail. This nail went completely through her foot. In need for medical treatment they went to a sister in law, who 'lent' them money to see a docter, who treated the little girl. Afterwards they were just in time to get the train to Westerbork. A few weeks later mother and childen were gassed together at Auschwitz.
