Betsy Wyatt Long

Birth: Nov. 14, 1930 Tyhee Bannock County Idaho, USA Death: Jul. 20, 2012

Betsy Wyatt Long passed away Friday, July 20, 2012, at the age of 81, surrounded by her family. She was born into this world Nov. 14, 1930, in Tyhee, Idaho, to James L. and Janette Wyatt, and lived most of her early years in Wellsville, Utah. She married Jay L. Long on Nov. 5, 1951, and they were sealed together in the Logan LDS Temple.

They lived most of their married life in Bountiful, Utah, in the same house, the same ward and the same stake for over 50 years, until her passing. This house is the home where their four faithful children all grew up together under their mother's sweet influence, went to the same schools, and were all married and sealed to special companions in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

To everyone who knew her, she was a great example of charity, the pure love of Christ and integrity. She loved everyone with a full expression of that love as she dedicated her whole life in serving her Heavenly Father.

Betsy had served in most of the ward and stake women's auxiliaries in the LDS Church, as well as in the Salt Lake Temple with her husband two days a week for 13 years, where she was the main sister supervisor Tuesday evenings during her last years there.

She was released from her position in the temple in 1994 after health complications brought about a drastic change in her lifestyle and that exhilarating association in the temple with the finest women on earth. It was a dramatic change, as she always wished she could be about helping others at will.

However, her fragile health has now quit altogether and relieved her of her heavy, earthly burdens as the time came for her to return to her Father in Heaven, and she has done so with that wonderful sweet smile still on her face, leaving the impression that "all is well."

Betsy leaves behind her husband of 60 years, Jay; four children, Mary Ellen Barss (David), Richard Long (Carolyn), Patricia Foster (Peter) and Lisa Vandegrift (Rob); 18 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

The family members wish to express their deep gratitude for the wonderful support she has received from everyone, especially the members of her ward and those she served with in the Salt Lake and Bountiful temples, until she was called back to her home on high where she now resides, free from all infirmities and worldly cares. The family would also like to thank the staff at the North Canyon Care Center, and Rocky Mountain Hospice for their dedicated services to our mom.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 26, 2012, at the Bountiful Utah 10th Ward, 1145 N. 200 East. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main St. in Bountiful, and from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Bountiful City Cemetery.

An online guest book may be signed at www.russonmortuary.com. As she would say, "All is well! All is well!" Published in Logan Herald Journal from July 24 to August 7, 2012
