Betty L. Marshall

Betty L. Marshall, 88, of McNabb died at 6 a.m. June 9, 2015, in Heartland Healthcare Center, Henry.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hurst Funeral Home, Wenona, with the Rev. Mike Barclay officiating. Burial will be at Wenona Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services.

She was born Nov. 22, 1926, in Cornell to John and Ethel (Skaggs) Skaggs. She married Ray Marshall in West Jersey, Ill., on Jan. 26, 1946.

She worked at Children and Family Services in Princeton and then Children’s Covenant Home in Princeton until retiring at the age of 70. She loved all the children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In 1957, she and her husband moved to the Mathis’ Farm in McNabb, where she continued to reside. Starting in the ’60s, she organized the Country Garage Sales biannually on her farm. She enjoyed her cattle and the wildlife animals in the valley. She was a member of St. John’s Methodist Church of Wenona.

Mrs. Marshall is survived by one daughter, Cyndy (Gail) Carr of Hennepin; one son, Ronald (Janet) Marshall of Varna; a nephew, like a son, Ron Kinkade of Magnolia; four grandchildren, Damon (Kim) Carr, Coreen (Jack) Craig, Randi (Jacob) Staley and Sarah Marshall; five great-grandchildren, Caleb and Hannah Carr, Carrlee, Carrigan and Carra Craig; one sister, Mary Skaggs of Streator.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 10, 2005; one great-grandson, Daniel Staley; four brothers and three sisters.

Memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice.

Pallbearers will be Ron Marshall, Ron Kinkade, Gail Carr, Damon Carr, Jack Craig and Jacob Staley.
