About Bishop Johannes 'John' Steiner
In 1808, John was born in Alsance, France. He was a swiss menonite married to Jeanne Anna Steiner. His brother, Urich, married her half sister Elizabeth. John was chosen by lot to be ordinated to Minister in 1839 and replaced his father'in'law the Swiss Menonite Bishop, Daniel, who was the father of both John's wife, Jeanne Anna and her half sister Elizabeth. He passed away in 1871 in Wayne Ohio.
According to family records, Bishop Steiner married his second cousin who shares their paternal great grandparents, so everybody has the same last names.
Bishop John Steiner was married to Jeanne Anna (Steiner) Steiner (also buried there). John was a Swiss Mennonite Bishop who immigrated to America in 1828 aboard the ship Sully with his father Peter and mother Barbara along with six brothers and sisters.
Bishop John and Anna had 14 children all born in Wayne county.
