Blanche A. Brungardt

Blanche A. Brungardt, 96, of Garden City, died Friday, July 3, 2009, at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City.

She was born March 9, 1913, in Marienthal, to Mike and Anglain Biel Paul, and attended school in Marienthal. In 1928, she moved to Garden City with her aunt and became a housekeeper before working for Oaks Laundry and then at St. Catherine Hospital.

On May 26, 1936, she married Herman Ray Brungardt in Garden City. A homemaker, she later became a child care provider for her grandchildren as well as many other children. She enjoyed sewing, embroidering, cooking and canning foods.

Her husband died Dec. 9, 1973. She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Eugene and Victor Brungardt; two brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include a son, LaVerne Brungardt of Garden City; a daughter, Alfreda Brown of Las Vegas; two sisters, Christine Ulrich of Hutchinson, and Helen Pelnar of Holcomb; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Vigil service and rosary was at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. Funeral Mass was at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City. Burial was at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.
