About Brevet Brig. General Henry C. Hoffman
Henry C. Hoffman was an officer in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He mustered in on 6 May 1861 at Elmira, New York as Captain of Company K, 23rd Regiment, New York Infantry. He was appointed Colonel of the Regiment on 16 May 1861. His regiment took part in the First Battle of Rappahannock Station, the Battle of Gainesville, the 2nd Battle of Bull Run, and the Battles of South Mountain, Antietam, Fredericksburg, and Chancellorsville. He mustered out on May 22, 1863 at Elmira, New York. He was appointed Brevet Brigadier General on March 13, 1865. In civilian life he was a farmer.
