Mr. Peavy died Saturday, July 3, 2004, at his residence in Unadilla. He was a native of Dooly County and member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. He was a self employed painter and served in the U. S. Merchant Marines.

He is survived by his wife, Cara Lee Peavy of Unadilla; six sons, Dwain (Janet) Peavey of Cordele, James Larry (Karon) Brown of Kathleen, Merrell (Pat) Peavy of Franklin, NC, Jason (Tricia) Peavy of Unadilla, Calvin E. Peavy, Jr. and Marty Ron Peavy both of Perry; four daughters: Debra (Randy) Warren of Cordele, Barbara (Mack) Rainey of Perry, Dale (Johnny) Singletary of Eastman and Diane Daniels of Vienna; two sisters, Myrtice Stokes of Warner Robins and Mattie Lou Robinson of Bonaire; twenty-four grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Brown, and a daughter, Sandra Jackson.
