Dorothy Buckner, daughter of Richard Buckner, was born in 1673 in Rappahannock County, married Charles Smith in 1700, then, after he died in 1710, married John Roy. She was NOT the mother of Hannah Roy. Her children were Robert Smith (from the first marriage), Thomas Roy, John Roy, Jr., Reuben Roy, Mungo Roy, Richard M Roy, Mary Roy, and Elizabeth Roy.


He lived in Essex County and died Abt 1710 when his widow Dorothy Smith, Augustine Smith, and R. Buckner gave bond in Essex court as his Administrators.

Following in the footsteps of his father, he also was a surveyor. In Essex County Records dated December 11, 1704, Charles Smith surveyed land of Major Lawrence Smith, a patent dated 26th March 1666 to his father.
