Minuteman, Revolutionary Soldier

Col Daniel Rand, son of Solomon, grandson of Daniel married, May 21 1767, Susannah Hemmenway of Shrewsbury. They settled in Rindge NH and there resided until their deaths. In the Revolution he was an ensign in Capt. Hale's Lexington company, he was a signatory of the "Association Test" in Rindge and a lieutenant in Col Isaac Wyman's regiment in 1776, a Capt. in Col Moore's regiment in 1777. Col. Rand led a company that included 24 Rindge men at the Battle of Saratoga. He was several years a member of the committee of safety. In the militia he was a Major in 1782 and a Col in 1785.

Col. Rand represented the town of Rindge in the NH Legislature for ten years. He was elected to the board of selectmen in Rindge seven times.

Daniel and Susannah were the parents of twelve children. They raised their children on the family farm in the south part of Rindge where, upon their deaths, they were interred together. This small family cemetery is located on private property now as then.
