Of George [Drake], it is known that he married, in 1677, Mary Oliver, of Elizabethtown, and was a useful public servant of the township and colony.
He was appointed supervisor of many important local matters and served as a legislator in the General Assembly for 1684 and several successive years following.

George secured about 120 acres of land in Piscataway in March 1677/8. "The Beginnings of Three New Jersey Family Lines" p 25 says George was b. in England or New England & nearly a full grown man when his parents moved to N. Jersey. He was a tavern keeper, highway commissioner, Justice of Peace, Militia Capt., Deputy to prov. assemb. 1684-92. In 1675 George & wife were of New Piscataway.
(p 42). "History of Piscataway Twp 1666-1976" p 44 says George Drake chose as Debuty of Piscataway 9 Apr 1686;was a member of Colonial Assembly 1684/92.
