Capt. Gerrit Demarest

Capt. Gerrit Demarest was born on 20 July 1725 at Tappan, Rockland County, New York. Capt. Gerrit Demarest was born on 20 July 1725 at Bergen County, New Jersey. He was the son of Jacobus Demarest and Margritie Cosynse Haring. Capt. Gerrit Demarest was baptized on 3 August 1725 at Tappan, Rockland County, New York. He married Jackemyntye Helling, daughter of Teunis Helling and Grietje Blauvelt, circa 1747. Capt. Gerrit Demarest was a loyalist Captain in the Revolution. He resided at at Pascack, Bergen County, New Jersey, in 1779. He left a will on 7 February 1798 at Hackensack, Bergen County, New Jersey. He died on 17 December 1798 at Bergen, Hudson County, New Jersey, at age 73. He was buried after 17 December 1798 at Dutch Reformed Church Curchyard, South Schraalenburgh, Bergen County, New Jersey.
