About Capt. James Packer
Son of Thomas Packer and Rebecca (Wells) Latham Packer. Following the death of his first wife Abigail (Avery) Packer, he married, second, Elizabeth Springer, and third, Thankful Fanning. From the Groton Avery Clan, page 141
He was a deputy, 1717 thru 1735; was commissioned captain, 1735 (Conn. Col. Rec., 6:2 & 7:363, 403, 424, 464 & 5:17 & 8:4).
He died from a fire that burned his barn. His will was probated at New London. He left each son a good farm.
