Roger m. Hannah, dau. of Wm. Furber of Dover. Slain 16 Oct. 1675. W1ll1am b. 1652; m. and lived in Boston. See Coll. of Mass. Hist , Society, Series 4, Vol. 8, p. 362. Their children were:

1. James m. before 1680 Lydia Hitchcock, (2) Mary Sayward.

1. James Plaisted married Lydia, dau. of Richard and Lucretia (Williams) Hitchcock, (2) Mary, dau. of Edward and Susanna (Wheelwright) Rishworth and widow of John Sayward of York. She was born 8 Jan. 1660, was captured 25 Jan. 1692 and carried to Canada by Indians and there bapt. 8 Dec. 1693.

Children by first marriage were:

  • Lt. Roger b. about 1685. Lived in Berwick, 1719-36.
  • Son, killed by Indians March 1690.
  • Francis m. Hannah Colman in Boston 28 March 1706. His will is dated 15 Jan. 1707.

Children by second marriage:

  • Lydia b. 4 Jan. 1696.
  • Olive b. 1 May 1698; m. 1718, Samuel Jordan, (2) 3 Jan. 1744 Rev. Thomas Smith of Falmouth, Me.; d. 3 Jan. 1763.
  • Joseph b. about 1700; m. Aug. 1724 Mrs. Mary Craige, dau. of Abraham and Mary (Bragdon) Preble of York, b. 17 Feb. 1695. He died 25 Aug. 1752. Ch., Sarah b. 26 Dec. 1725 m. 15 Nov. 1747 John Swett; James b. 7 March 1727-8, d. 10 Aug. 1728; John b. 1733, m. Mary, dau. of Paul Nowell; and perhaps Joseph.

The widow of John Sayward married James Plaisted of York, by whom she had several children. When the Indians made the attack on the town of York, Feb. 5, 1692, she had just been confined and was taken captive with her little babe and her children, Mary and Esther Sayward, and carried to Canada. Mather, in his Magnalia, gives the following account of that terrible journey ... She was carried to Montreal, where she remained until October, 1695, when she was ransomed by Matthew Cary.
