Olive Smith

Captain Samuel Jordan was married at York in 1718 to Olive Plaisted, daughter of James and Mary (Rishworth) Plaisted, of Brunswick, Maine. In 1744 she married for her second huband Rev. James Smith. Her death occurred in 1763.

The 9 children of her first union were:

3. Olive b: 1 Jul 1722 (who became the wife of Rev. Ivory Hovey).
4. Sarah b: 1724 in Winter Harbor, Biddeford (who became the wife of Rev. Samuel Hill).
5. Hannah b: 1726 in Biddeford (who became the wife of Rev. Moses Morrill).
6. Samuel b: 5 Apr 1729 in Biddeford (who married Mercy Bourne).
7. Tristram b: 13 May 1731 in Biddeford
8. James b: 1732 in Deer Island, Hancock
9. Mary b: 29 Jul 1735 in Biddeford (who became the wife of Philip Goldthwaits of Boston).

1. James m. before 1680 Lydia Hitchcock, (2) Mary Sayward.

1. James Plaisted married Lydia, dau. of Richard and Lucretia (Williams) Hitchcock, (2) Mary, dau. of Edward and Susanna (Wheelwright) Rishworth and widow of John Sayward of York. She was born 8 Jan. 1660, was captured 25 Jan. 1692 and carried to Canada by Indians and there bapt. 8 Dec. 1693.

Children by first marriage were:

• Lt. Roger b. about 1685. Lived in Berwick, 1719-36.
• Son, killed by Indians March 1690.
• Francis m. Hannah Colman in Boston 28 March 1706. His will is dated 15 Jan. 1707.

Children by second marriage:

• Lydia b. 4 Jan. 1696.
• Olive b. 1 May 1698; m. 1718, Samuel Jordan, (2) 3 Jan. 1744 Rev. Thomas Smith of Falmouth, Me.; d. 3 Jan. 1763.
• Joseph b. about 1700; m. Aug. 1724 Mrs. Mary Craige, dau. of Abraham and Mary (Bragdon) Preble of York, b. 17 Feb. 1695. He died 25 Aug. 1752. Ch., Sarah b. 26 Dec. 1725 m. 15 Nov. 1747 John Swett; James b. 7 March 1727-8, d. 10 Aug. 1728; John b. 1733, m. Mary, dau. of Paul Nowell; and perhaps Joseph.
