About Capt. John Daugherty Elliott (USA)
Capt. Elliott was an ardent patriot, having served through the Civil War, being first Lieutenant of Co. B, 14th Regiment, West Virginia Volunteers, organized at Kingwood, Preston Co., Aug. 15,1862; was promoted Capt. of same company Apr. 8, 1864, and honorably discharged from the U.S. Army June 27, 1865. He moved to Cheyenne Co., Kansas, in May 1887, where he resided until April, 1903, at that time going to Dundy Co., Nebraska, where he has since lived.
